Did I tell y'all that my sister got engaged?!
She and her new fiancé, Spencer are going to be getting married next fall and I'm so excited!
He asked her as they were moving in together last week. She told me he brought an ottoman that didn't look very, um, sightly, and she asked him what was going on with that. He proceeded to open it up and tell her all the cool things the ottoman held... DVDs and such, and then pulled out her ring. She didn't even notice that he was on his knee getting the stuff out of the ottoman. So sneaky. :)
So she was super excited to tell me, and of course, my phone was dead. So I got to see her and Spencer face to face shortly after they got engaged as they showed up at my house to tell me the good news! We popped a bottle of champagne and celebrated. :)
Ashley asked me to be her Matron of Honor, and I couldn't be more thrilled.
I am also super excited to get to throw her a bridal shower with a friend of hers sometime between now and then, and since we all know I love to throw a good party, I have already started pinteresting away at ideas.
I had some free time the other afternoon without the kids, so I decided it would be a good time to finally go check out Southern Season in Chapel Hill and maybe get some party ideas and admire all their housewares and table linens.
I had never been before, so I wasn't sure what to expect, but I had heard great things.
I walked in to the coolest cooking store.
They have food, wine, pots, pans, gifts, cooking utensils, serving platters, you name it. I loved walking around the store, making mental notes of the baking items I wanted to buy later. I even saw a couple tablecloths I wanted. I have no idea when I decided I liked tablecloths, but apparently I do now. Either the south is really rubbing off on me, or I'm getting old. Probably a little of both.
And they have sweets galore. I mean fresh baked cupcakes, an ice cream bar, and tons of candy. Who knew that the candy crush game actually had candy you could buy? Don't tell my son that I spotted angry birds fruit gummies and didn't buy them all for him.
They have a restaurant that I'd love to check out some time. I know they offer cooking classes, too, and I think that's something I'm probably going to look into for myself in the future. I love baking, and love the opportunity to get better at it.
Where are your favorite stores to hit up when you're planning a party?
